Analytic framework for the modeling of effective media

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

A generalized analytic framework is developed through which the analytic properties of all binary mixture effective medium theories (EMT) can be deduced and compared. In the complex plane of the variable u = i/(εfiller-1), it is straight forward to separate the morphology dependent properties of the EMT from its dependence on the susceptibilities of the components. The analytic properties of the binary mixtures of dielectrics are compactly summarized as a sum of poles of a complex function. Such a sum of poles has as its only parameters the strengths of the poles and their positions.
