Abstract

The magnetohydrodynamic code, MACH is an advanced single-fluid numerical solver that has been extensively used to provide useful insights and experimental guidance to a wide range of plasma applications. A brief outline of its physical and numerical capabilities emphasizes the variety of advanced models included in the two time-dependent versions of the code; the more mature 21/2 dimensional axisymmetric version and the recently developed full 3-dimensional solver. Representative examples of the code's application to space propulsion applications highlight its utility and establish its validity as a primary predictive tool.
