Abstract

This paper describes a microprocessor based adaptive load voltage regulator using a series switched capacitor. A capacitor will be inserted for a percentage of each positive and negative half cycle. The system load voltage is measured during every cycle by the microprocessor and compared with the desired value. Correspondingly, the microprocessor will make adjustments to the period of time for which the series compensation capacitor is inserted into the circuit, thereby regulating load voltage. The advantage of the proposed system is the fast and continuous regulation of load voltage.
