Abstract

Almost no nonlinearity was observed between the withstand voltage and the string length up to 800 kV, 60 Hz in steam fog. The characteristics of the fog chamber were determined by measuring such parameters as the temperature of the fog chamber, the water content of the fog and the leakage resistance of contaminated insulators, corresponding to the boiler output per unit volume of the fog chamber. It was confirmed that an increase in the boiler output per unit volume results in a reduction of the withstand characteristics.
