Abstract

Simultaneous location and mapping (SLAM) describes a problem in applications such as robotics, self-driving vehicles, and unmanned aerial vehicles, of mapping an environment while simultaneously tracking agents and navigating within it. Existing research has focused on increasing the speed and quality of this mapping process, while reducing cost. In this paper we propose a simple framework for gathering location and gestural tracking of users via their mobile devices. We present an Internet of Things (IoT) framework for building creative environments with existing low-cost technologies. We will describe how to use this framework to design a shared gesture space. In this paper we focus on trying to solve an interfacing problem of interactive movement-based performances, where the audience watches performers, and interacting with the stage via embedded technology on stage/installation.
