Abstract

A privacy-preserving method for detecting the co-visitation of multiple users on Web pages, based on fully or partially matching page content, without disclosing any content or location information to the matchmaking server.Compared to similar systems such as Yahoo groups, e-opinions, ebay, chat rooms and co-browsing systems, this method is completely privacy preserving from the server. Additionally the users can maintain a very high degree of privacy from each other as well as the server using cryptographic methods. From the user's perspective, he or she can highlight any piece of information (or none), while browsing a web page and get to find and collaborate with other people who have either expressed an interest, or with those who are currently viewing the same or another similar page that contains a matching item of interest.
