Abstract

A method of predicting the performance of spatially-series-connected photovoltaic cells under non-uniform illumination at the array level is presented. This methodology is also applied to multi-junction solar cells under non-uniform illumination at the subcell level. Necessary conditions to straightforwardly model these cells as a single diode are identified.
