abstract = "The paper presents a computer program that calculates the zone of protection against lightning offered by the substation shielding system. The method of calculation is based on the rolling sphere method and MATLAB is used to create this program. The two dimensional visual representation is shown that would help design engineers to position the shielding system. Finally, one case is considered in order to show the usability of the program for newly added substation equipment.",
