Abstract

We report the growth of multisegment ZnCdSSe nano heterostructures realized by a unique growth method using a facile CVD route and their light emitter applications. The resulting products are able to emit light in a wide range from near-IR to near-UV covering the whole visible spectrum. By tuning the composition of each segment we can grow such monolithic structures emitting three elementary colors simultaneously. By changing the relative pumping power of each segment we demonstrate full color tunabe light emitters. In addition, well defined cavity of each segment supports the stimulated emission and side by side cavity arrangement of the structures makes it possible to demonstrate full color tunable including white lasing under high enough pumping power. Our work is very promosing for solid state ligting applications as it demonstrates the growth of monolithic phosphor-free white light emitters from a single material system which are the desired characteristics of the solid state lighting. Our work is also very promising for display, Li-Fi, and etc. technologies.
