Windowless Alpha and Beta Detector Phase II

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Windowless Alpha and Beta Detector Phase II Windowless Alpha and Beta Detector Phase II Arizona State University is a world leader in single-crystal diamond research. Consequently, working with ASU means Advent Diamond will have access to some of the best diamond reactors as well as access to an extensive knowledge base in the field. Moreover, the ASU team has extensive research on diamond radiation detectors based on pin diodes, which will be directly applicable to this project. The ASU team will fabricate state-of-the-art diode detector structures on single crystal and polycrystalline diamond substrates with specifications for rugged, high sensitivity operation. The ASU diamond growth facility has separate systems for ultra-pure intrinsic diamond deposition and n-type diamond deposition. ASU will calibrate the dopant concentration using SIMS. These systems will enable fabrication of rugged, high sensitivity detectors on the p-type single crystal and polycrystalline diamond substrates. The ASU team will also provide expertise related to this technology.
