WET Center Project: Legionella in Water WET Project: Legionella in Water Legionella bacteria are ubiquitous in natural and artificial water supplies where protozoan host endoparasitization and biofilm colonization are involved in their life cycle. Humans can become incidental hosts, resulting in legionellosis. Current Legionella knowledge is severely lacking in several key areas, particularly concerning the interactions between the bacteria, the biofilms they live in, and their host organisms.
