Verde Health Initiative: Fitness for Life Project Project Title: Verde Health Initiative: Fitness for Life Project The Fitness for Life project is designed to help schools in the Verde Valley meet the following objectives. Increase physical activity during the school day, at home, and throughout life. Improve eating habits during the school day, at home, and throughout life. Reduce incidence of childhood overweight and promote improved health as a result of adoption of healthy lifestyles including increased activity and improved eating patterns. Promote self-management skills among youth that results in lifelong healthy behaviors. Promote academic achievement and enhanced cognitive abilities resulting from conceptual information and physical activity integrated into the school day. Fitness for Life is an evidence-based program.
