ABSTRACT ASU Polytechnic: TRIO Student Support Services-Regular 2020-2025 Grant Application (34 CFR646.21) Arizona State University, Polytechnic: Student Support Services Page 1 Arizona State University at Polytechnic campus requests funding for the TRIO Student Support Services to provide beneficial service the campuses' large number of low income, first generation students and students with disabilities which amounts to 53% of enrollment. With a significant population of eligible students, SSS will enroll 150 participants per year and offer intensive academic support services to assist student participants towards the successful completion of a four-year baccalaureate degree. The SSS project will offer services to individuals that augment existing college and university services by addressing the students holistic needs in terms of instructional, counseling and experiential support. Instructional services will include the following: needs assessment, tutoring in writing, mathematics, critical thinking, and computer based learning, small work groups and individualized higher order thinking skills. Further, emotional support such as assistance with personal development, financial aid, mentoring, and peer support groups will be provided. Experiential support will include cultural enrichment activities, summer transitional programs, career and graduate school preparation, conference attendance and research experiences, all offered to help students grow through new experiences. Institutional commitment for the TRIO Student Support Services is strong. ASU Polytechnic provides direct support for staff salaries and materials and supplies along with collaborative support from departments throughout the university such as financial aid and Career & Professional Development Services. In addition, the project is supplied with ample space, which is centrally located, including private offices for project staff and computer labs and study areas for students. The assurance of success for this project is greatly enhanced by Arizona State University. Due to this solid commitment, the applicant feels confident to address all both competitive preference priorities.
