Project Details

Description

Transportation Model Re-Calibration ASU Travel Survery Design and Administration COLLECTION OF TRAVEL DEMAND DATA FOR ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY (ASU) AND UPDATE OF ASU MODEL PARAMETERS This project will involve close coordination and partnership between Arizona State University and Resource Systems Group, Inc., a consulting firm with extensive experience in the design and deployment of sophisticated web-based travel surveys that have complex skipping patterns and stated preference survey components. One of the outcomes of the 2007 survey effort was a realization of the complexity of administering a survey of this magnitude to an entire university community as large as Arizona State University. As such, in this effort, it is envisioned that Arizona State University will team with a professional survey and modeling firm Resource Systems Group, Inc. so that the response rate is maximized and the data collected is of excellent quality leading to the estimation of robust models of ASU travel demand. Arizona State University and Resource Systems Group, Inc. have a long and successful track record of undertaking complex projects collaboratively with great success. While each 3 entity will have its own scope of work, the tasks in each scope complement one another such that the enterprise as a whole will be completed in a timely manner. Essentially, the project will be split into two distinct but complementary pieces. Arizona State University will be in charge of designing the survey, developing and implementing the sampling plan, administering the survey, preparing the data, analyzing the data, estimating the models, and updating the ASU travel model component. Resource Systems Group, Inc. will play a support role in the survey design and sampling plan tasks, but will be in charge of implementing the survey in a web-based online portal so that the survey can be completed in a user-friendly and efficient way by the respondents. They will also be in charge of transmitting raw data to the Arizona State University team. They will also play a support role in the data analysis, model estimation, and model update tasks. Resource Systems Group, Inc. will be responsible for producing the web-based survey portal and the raw data sets, while Arizona State University will be responsible for all other deliverables (final data sets, survey instrument, sampling plan, survey administration protocol, pretest results and revised survey instrument, model parameter estimates, and updated ASU travel model component).
