Description

Towards Green IT: An Empirical Evaluation of Data Center Efficiency Towards Green IT ? An Empirical Evaluation of Data Center Efficiency The proposed work involves profiling a selected data center (RMS Building 801). The profile will produce an analytical model of the data center and assessing the inefficiencies. The work will consist of four components: 1. Assist Raytheon personnel in selecting appropriate sensors and recommend placement and mounting procedures 2. Retrieving the manufacturer specifications of the computing, networking and cooling equipment 3. Use the collected on-site measurements and readings from the data center 4. Modeling the thermal performance using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations 5. Assessing the inefficiencies
