The Vocational University Leadership and Innovation Institute (VULII) The Vietnam University Leadership and Innovation Institute (VULII) The Vietnam University Leadership and Innovation Institute (VULII) is designed to contribute directly to the national goal of increasing the quality of higher education while strengthening the human and institutional capacity to contribute to Vietnams economic growth. VULII will provide capacity-building and training programs at multiple levels, ranging from government officials and university rectors to mid-level administrators and engineering professors who are preparing the next generation of the technical workforce. VULII will focus on six different levels of institutional reform; quality assurance, rectors leadership, deans leadership, financial management, faculty and curriculum development, and center of excellence. Eight Vietnamese universities will participate in this three year program, they include; Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, Cantho University, Danang University of Technology, Cao Thang Technical College, Ho Chi Minh University of Industry, and Ho Chi Minh Vocational College of Technology. An expected outreach of 1,000 participants at ASU and 2,250 in Vietnam are expected with this program. VULII will be funded through a partnership with USAID, Intel Corporation, MOET, MOLISSA, and each of the eight Vietnamese universities as mentioned above. VULII has adopted an integrated approach on multiple levels, from government officials to institutional leaders, deans, mid-level managers, and faculty. Its potential for success is evidenced by the cash commitments of up to $200,000 each per year or $4.8 million by the eight target universities, plus Intels pledge of $300,000 for diversity activities and scholarships for women, providing $2.7 million altogether as matching funds for USAIDs $2.5 million.
