THE MOVEMENT UNDERCOMMONS: Future Archives: Motion Capture as technology of resistance THE MOVEMENT UNDERCOMMONS: Future Archives: Motion Capture as technology of resistance To support The Movement Undercommons, this project that explores how new mobile motion capture technology can be used in the field to build a repository of movement portraits. This project centers on co-creating with historically marginalized communities, the movement portraits that will generate critical narratives that are not otherwise being heard, central to reimagining use of this technology. Community partnerships; working particularly with a local Arizona project that focuses on community-driven archival collections designed to preserve and improve Arizonas archives, will collaborate to design a digital future archive. Supported by this research, I imagine creating a dance work of performance and public installation from a series of these portraits; to animate and choreograph the data with an accompanying sound score derived from the movement capture process/stories.
