Sustainability Competencies for the Next Generation of Professionals Sustainability Competencies for the Next Generation of Professionals Proposal/Scope of Work Societies around the globe face tremendous sustainability challenges. This requires reconsidering the idea of sustainability education as a specialized professional education. Given the need for large-scale societal transformations, instead, all professions need to shift their profiles to sustainability-oriented activities and tasks. This, in return, requires universities to significantly expand and accelerate their efforts to educate students in sustainability competencies across all academic programs. The two-day workshop trains Tec de Monterrey faculty from a variety of disciplines in sustainability competencies to be conveyed to students through curricula and courses. The workshop focuses on job profiles relevant to Tec de Monterrey graduates, how those jobs currently incorporate sustainability tasks, how they should incorporate sustainability tasks in the future, and how education guided by sustainability competencies can prepare students to become competitive for those jobs. The workshop is designed in a replicable format (with material) that can be used for faculty training sessions at other universities.
