ASU will develop front-end signal processing algorithms for the solid-state neutron detector. The algorithms will be implemented in a field programmable gate array (FPGA). The digital signal processing code will utilize the digitized output from the CLYC based detector as its input. These inputs will be digitally manipulated to render outputs that discriminate the neutron and gamma radiations originally detected by the CLYC. ASU will also participate in the prototype detector evaluation in order to provide an independent assessment and feedback on the efficacy of the system.
