Description
SCEC5 Year 4 Research Collaboration at Arizona State University Search, Map, and Analyze the Dynamics of Fragile Geologic Features The PIs propose to build on initial work studying Precariously Balanced Rocks (PBR) to develop a workflow for (i) automatic searching and detection of PBRs using UAVs, mapping, (ii) characterizing PBRs (e.g., orientation, size, spatial distribution) over large areas, and (iii) integration of PBRs into dynamic simulations to estimate critical loading data such as peak paleoseismic ground acceleration.
