Registry and College Scholarships Registry and College Scholarships The intent of the Registry and College Scholarships strategy is to provide access to higher education for the early childhood workforce working directly with or on behalf of young children birth through age five, before kindergarten entry. The expected results of supporting continuing education and degree completion is elevating and professionalizing the field, recruiting and retaining a quality early childhood workforce and supporting and increasing the quality of services provided to young children. FTF has entered into an agreement with the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) to provide professional scholarships, through the Registry and College Scholarships strategy, to identified candidates following a pathway to an Arizona teaching certification or endorsement in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) prioritizing the High Need Communities (HNCs) through the federal Preschool Development Grant (PDG). The purpose of the PDG, offered through the US Department of Education, is to assist states in developing and enhancing capacity to deliver high-quality preschool programming as well as implement and sustain high-quality preschool for eligible children in selected HNCs. The PDG that Arizona submitted outlined an ambitious but achievable plan to make high quality preschool programs more available and accessible in the identified HNCs around the state.
