Professional Language Skills Enhancement Training: An Arizona State University LTC Partnership Professional Language Skills Enhancement Training: An Arizona State University LTC Partnership The purpose of the proposed ASU LTC training in Washington, DC will be to provide language and culture training for DoD civilian and military personnel at the intermediate (ILR 1/1+) and advanced (ILR 2/2+) levels. Participants will be recruited from within DIA and its partner agencies in the IC and DoD. The goal will be for participating DoD civilian and military linguiststhe student traineesto achieve measurable ILR proficiency gainsspecifically, to advance students from ILR 1+ to ILR 2+, and from ILR 2 or 2+ to ILR 3 in reading, listening, and speaking proficiency. This programmatic objective addresses an internal goal of DIAs Training, Education, and Development Division to move away from less rigorous commercial DC language vendors to internally monitored, academically rigorous language instruction within its own agency.
