Description

ASU shall provide numerical analysis of the impact of large settlements on waste containment liner and cover systems that include geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) and geomembrane elements. The analyses will be conducted using a version of the computer program FLAC (Fast Langrangian Analysis of Continuum) licensed by the University of California at San Diego for research purposes. The analysis will include the use of advanced constitutive models for GCL behavior developed at ASU. Details of the analysis will be developed by ASU Principal Investigator in conjunction with the University of San Diego Principal Investigator on the project. ASU will also take the lead in preparing one or more manuscripts co-authored with UC San Diego project personnel describing the results of the analyses for publication in scholarly journals and will provide training to UC San Diego personnel in use of the computer program FLAC for this type of analysis.
