Perils and Perks of Privilege

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

1. SUMMARY OF PROPOSAL: To address the widening disconnect between individuals and communities, six, 2.5-hour Perils and Perks of Privilege workshops will provide opportunities for Arizonans to explore privilege in their lives, lives of others, and the systems within which we all live. Experiential learning activities and presentations will encourage participants to reflect on and share personal privilege experiences. Varying materials will be used including short films, popular culture materials--childrens literature, television, cartoons, song lyrics, YouTube segments, music, dolls and other toys, commercials and commercial products, greeting cards, and more, to illustrate how everyday items contribute to the implicit role of privilege in our lives.
