Oxygen consumption and a physical activity monitor--normative data collection for defined bouts and free-living routines Oxygen consumption and a physical activity monitor--normative data collection for defined bouts and free-living routines Scope of Work ASU will test 80 participants, both men and women, between the ages of 18 and 40. Participants must be healthy and very physically active, with no limitations to exercise. Testing will include: 1. 40 participants will undergo a structured routine of physical activities to include walking, running, cycling, arm cranking, simulated activities of daily living (such as loading and unloading boxes, sweeping). 2. 40 participants will undergo a free-living routine of physical activities to be determined upon consultation with Nike. 3. During each physical activity routine participants will wear a portable metabolic measurement system and a polar heart rate monitor that are currently owned by ASU, and 2 wrist-worn motion-sensors to be provided by Nike. Data to be collected include heart rate, pulmonary ventilation and gas exchange for determination of oxygen uptake, and accelerometer counts obtained from the wrist-worn motion sensors. 4. Prior to data collection on the 80 enrolled participants, ASU will collect pilot data on ~5 subjects to establish reliability and precision of measurements. 5. The expected schedule of data collection is to complete testing on at least 10 participants per week. 6. ASU will remit to Nike batched data from all testing sessions in CSV of XLS form at least weekly. 7. ASU will respond in a timely manner to any questions concerning data collection, analysis, and observed relationships. 8. ASU currently has all equipment necessary to conduct the proposed testing services. Nike will provide the wrist-worn motion sensors.
