Description

Low-cost Manufacturing of Bioinspired Damage-Tolerant Ceramic Composites Low-cost Manufacturing of Bioinspired Damage-Tolerant Ceramic Composites Low-cost Manufacturing of Bioinspired Damage-Tolerant Ceramic Composites In this REU project, we propose to recruit one undergraduate engineering student for 6 months to research on 3D printing ceramics to fabricate ceramic preforms for composites. The student will perform the following tasks under the PIs and graduate students supervision: a. Conduct an extensive literature review of various process for ceramic materials 3D printing. b. Work with graduate students to formulate ceramic resin slurry for 3D printing. c. 3D print ceramic preforms and characterize their mechanical properties. d. Write a final report.
