Long-Term Aging of Asphalt Mixtures for Performance Testing and Prediction Long-Term Aging of Asphalt Mixtures for Performance Testing and Prediction In NCHRP 9-54 ASU will be responsible for assessing the sensitivity of asphalt concrete mechanical behaviors to changes in the properties of the asphalt binder. This task will involve performing experiments on asphalt concrete, asphalt mastic, and asphalt binder. The experiments will determine the linear viscoelastic properties and the characteristic damage properties and how these behaviors are affected by changes in asphalt binder rheology as affected by oxidative aging. ASU will also investigate oxidative diffusion into and within asphalt concrete mixtures. The experimental data gathered under the sensitivity task effort along with other data gathered at the other research institutions associated with this proposal will be used for this purpose.
