Public Practice is an evolving area of arts practice that uses participation, reciprocal relationships and collaborations in community contexts to promote civic dialogue and investigate pressing issues of our time. Thursday October 27 Saturday October 29, 2011, at Arizona State Universitys Downtown Phoenix campus, the ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts will host Light It Up: Optimizing Public Practice. This meeting will showcase exemplary work by artists and communities, providing perspectives from the field while building awareness and advocacy for Public Practice. The gathering will include ASU artists, humanists, faculty, students and staff, regional community partners, and national and international leaders in the field. Through panel discussions, presentations, and strategy sessions, the dialogue will investigate the artist-citizen of the 21st century.
