Leveraging YouTube Video Analytics for Patient Education on Health Management: A Digital Therapy Tool for Clinicians to Retrieve and Share Understandable Videos on Chronic Disease Management Leveraging YouTube Video Analytics for Patient Education on Health Management: A Digital Therapy Tool for Clinicians to Retrieve and Share Understandable Videos on Chronic Disease Management Over 117 million people in the United States (US) have been diagnosed with one or more chronic diseases, accounting for 84% of all healthcare spending in 2012. Chronic disease self-management and preventive health is a central plank of health care reform in the US. The success of such programs relies on accessible medical information and patient-centered, personalized communication practices. It has been estimated that only 12% of the US population is health literacy proficient, defined as the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions. Such limited health literacy have been shown to lead to poorer health outcomes and higher healthcare costs.
