Description

Just Energy Transition Center Community Assistance Pilot Just Energy Transition Center Community Assistance Pilot This grant has five primary goals, all of which have to do with the prevention of economic devastation that the communities of St. Johns and Joseph City will face in light of the closure of coal plants that have powered their economies. Our goals include assisting them to engage in the Arizona Corporation Commission Just Energy Transition discussions, which could potentially provide economic transition packages, conduct community visioning processes to determine a shared vision for the future of the community, serve as an advisor to the community to engage the plant-owning utilities, connect Arizona coal communities to regional and national experts and other impacted communities, and provide technical support to secure federal grant funding. Our ideal outcomes would be for these communities to find a way to have a secure economic future that preserves the pieces of their communities that they love most.
