Description

GROUND TEMPERATURE STUDY OF SOUTHWEST GAS OPERATING TERRITORIES GROUND TEMPERATURE STUDY OF SOUTHWEST GAS OPERATING TERRITORIES BACKGROUND: A. (SWG) is developing a project to determine soil temperatures at burial depths for natural gas pipelines in its operating territories. B. SWG has a need for experienced analytical and testing services regarding soils, underground temperature sensing, data gathering, data analysis and testing validation. SCOPE OF WORK INCLUDES: A. Testing of the soil temperature under asphalt and dirt, as available, within the Companys facilities, to include: (1) Bullhead City, Phoenix metropolitan area, Tucson and Yuma, Arizona (2) Barstow, California (3) Carson City and Las Vegas, Nevada B. Conduct ambient temperature, soil temperature, and moisture readings in each of the locations in 2.A at 6-inch increments beginning at ground level and continuing below grade until the depth of 42-inches. C. Temperature testing is to be performed for the locations identified in 2.A, as follows: (1) The ambient temperature is to be recorded for each day and location. (2) Placement of temperature sensing devices at 6-inch increments beginning at ground level and continuing below grade until a depth of 42-inches. (3) Sensors will be interfaced with some type of continuous data capturing device or instrumentation for data gathering and analysis purposes. Consultant shall provide all instrumentation, sensoring, and recording devices. (4) Readings will be taken at a minimum of every five minutes for 18 months.
