Description

Global Classroom - Liberal Arts Education for the 21st Century with International Perspective Global Classroom - Liberal Arts Education for the 21st Century I.INTRODUCTION Global the Classroom: Liberal Arts Education in the 21st Century and foundation-stone of a comprehensive internationalization strategy similarly to the globalization of the science we experience at present a globalization of the study. According to UNESCO study at present approx. 2.5 million students outside of its homeland, a number, which will rise up to the year 2020 to 7 million. This tendency for internationalization is reflected so far however only in insufficient Measures in the teachings of German universities again. Foreign language training meetings and substantial co-operation with foreign Universities have still scarcity value and to be based usually on the friendly relationship of individual chair owners. This concerns the Bachelor and master studies before all. For graduate students it already gives beginnings to Max Planck institutes with graduation schools both at the universities as well as at for internationalization. On level of the university internationalization is usually still understood beyond the development about research co-operation as professionalization of the marketing activity and the purposeful a advertisement about DAAD - means. Here the Leuphana would like to set University of Lueneburg and instead through the pursuit of a consistent, content wise driven internationalization strategy an innovative, internationally competitive study offer on the level of the Bachelor (College) and master courses of studies develop. In co-operation with the project partner, Arizona State University, again-developed curriculum represents the core of this internationalization strategy and is with successful evaluation in the medium term a model character for other universities in Germany and Europe to develop. Discussions with representatives of other universities show already that an extensive Interest in the model suggested here exists.
