Description

The general objective of the proposed project is to understand the processes and impacts of programs that employ high risk populations. The specific objectives of the proposed project are to: a. Identify variations in the establishment and operation of high risk population employment intervention programs, b. Identify the activities and goals of population employment intervention programs, c. Identify the impact of employment based intervention programs, d. Identify the costs and benefits of high risk population employment intervention programs, and e. Present conclusions about the strengths and weaknesses of high risk population employment intervention programs on reducing crime and delinquency. With the aim of meeting the outlined objectives, it is considered necessary to carry out the following activities: 1) Develop a work plan, 2) collect and review the literature on prior research examining high risk population employment intervention programs, 3) Conduct an inventory on the implementation of high risk population employment intervention programs in Central and North American countries within the past year and 5) Conduct a minimum of three and up to five case studies on high risk population employment intervention programs.
