Functionalizing Activated Carbon Powders for Supercapacitators Functionalizing Activated Carbon Powders for Supercapacitors The goal of this project is to improve the performance of the commercially available activated carbon (AC) powders as electrodes for supercapacitors. The proposed strategies include 1) tuning the carbon pore structures, 2) modifying the carbon chemistry by doping and/or surface functionalization, and 3) incorporating metal oxide nanocrystals into the activated carbon powders.
