Fukushima Radiation Disaster Zone Bird Research Project Fukushima Radiation Disaster Zone Bird Research Project From 1 February - 31 December 2012, Dr. McGraw will be collaborating with Japanese and French researchers on a new project investigating the effects of the nuclear disaster in Fukushima, Japan on bird biology. The French research institute, IRSN, will be funding our component of the collaborative research, which we will conduct at ASU. They will be collecting blood samples from birds in Japan and shipping the plasma to us at ASU. They will contribute $12,000 to permit us to hire a researcher to conduct our analyses of plasma antioxidants (e.g. carotenoids, vitamins) for 5 months.
