Description

Community Standards for FAIR Scientific Computation: Establishing the Open Modeling Foundation Community Standards for FAIR Scientific Computation: Establishing the Open Modeling Foundation This proposal seeks support to establish the Open Modeling Foundation (OMF) as an international federation of modeling organizations for community standards. This project will initiate the organizational structure needed to carry out the OMF mission to adopt and promulgate community-wide standards for FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) practices in computational modeling across the social, biomedical, ecological, environmental, and geophysical (SBEEG) sciences, develop the incentives needed to sustain standards-based modeling, and establish the OMF as a self-sustaining community within its first two years. The primary focus will be establishing OMF governance and administration, setting up active working groups for model standards, incentives for adopting standards, and education/outreach, and engaging early career scholars, especially those from groups historically underrepresented in modeling science.
