CHOMPER: Calculus and Hominid Oral Metagenomes for Pathogen Evolution Research CHOMPER: Calculus and Hominid Oral Metagenomes for Pathogen Evolution Research The ASU Laboratory of Molecular Anthropology will work with Dr. Brenda Baker (ASU) to select and sample calculus from individuals from archaeological sites in Sudan. Specifically, the RA will sample calculus from approximately 55 individuals. He or she will then visit our collaborators at the for four to five weeks for training in ancient dental calculus DNA extraction and analysis and will process the samples there. After returning to ASU, the RA will work on data analysis in collaboration with the other project researchers.
