Project Details

Description

CCR - ASU Research Collaboration on Pavement Design and Rehabilitation CCR - ASU Research Collaboration on Pavement Design and Rehabilitation The ASU researcher, jointly with CCR staff, will conduct joint research on advanced material characterization of typical paving materials used in Brazil. This work will be conducted mainly at CCRs NovaDutra facility outside Sao Paulo. The ASU researchert will act as a CCR team member when in Brazil and contribute to any needed work within her expertise. Pavement material properties will be identified and utilized in the Mechanistic Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) by AASHTO. Research studies will be conducted to evaluate the applicability and best use of the MEPDG for Brazilian highway conditions. The effort that will be dedicated by the research scientist is 9 months, which will be allocated within a one year collaborative agreement. This time could be extended upon mutual agreement between CCR and ASU. In addition, it will be possible to extend the collaboration agreement for another year. The starting date is anticipated to be in mid October 2010. In order to maximize on this collaborative effort between CCR and ASU, the visiting researcher is expected to travel between the two institutions two or three times a year. CCR staff is welcome to join the researcher at ASU; however, this will be at CCRs expense. The travel between CCR and ASU will be utilized for discussions with the Principal Investigator (PI) and exchange of any technical information needed for the CCR projects
