AIMS Consortium PWR AIMS Consortium Research will be conducted in the areas of damage detection and investigation of composite materials. Specifically the research will focus on sensor and transducer based damage detection in multiple material systems. Non destructive evaluation (NDE) and structural health monitoring (SHM) approaches will be used to address critical damage state in composites, such as delamination. The output of this research will contribute to the fundamental understanding of damage in composite materials and their applications. ALCOA AIMS Consortium Research will be conducted in the areas of fatigue life assessment for Glare and fiber metal laminate materials. Specifically the research will focus on the multiaxial static and fatigue testing. Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) approaches will be used to address critical damage state in the Glare materials, such as delamination. The output of this research will contribute to the development of a knowledge base on Glare materials. Honeywell AIMS Consortium Research will be conducted in the areas of characterization and analysis of braided and bonded composites. Specifically the research will focus on the material characterization and modeling. Both triaxially and biaxially braided fabrics will be considered. The output of this research will contribute to the fundamental understanding of the behavior of complex composites. PWR Consortium Project 2012 (Pratt Whitney & Rocketdyne) Research will be conducted in the areas of damage detection and investigation of composite materials. Specifically the research will focus on the fixturing, multiaxial loading and nondestructive evaluation. The output of this research will contribute to the fundamental understanding of damage in composite sandwich panel materials. Advatech Pacific Bolted Joint Repair Program Consortium Project Advatech Pacific Bolted Joint Repair Program AIMS Consortium Abstract Research will be conducted in the areas of experimental mechanics for bolted joint composite repair. Specifically the research will focus on the fixturing, multiaxial loading and nondestructive evaluation. The output of this research will contribute to the fundamental understanding of damage in composite bolted joints materials. AIMS: Boeing Membership Agreement Aerojet (PWR) 2013 Consortium Project Aerojet (PWR) 2013 AIMS Consortium Project Abstract Research will be conducted in the areas of damage, manufacturing, and uncertainty modeling of ceramic matrix composite materials. Specifically the research will focus on capturing the manufactured state and multiscale uncertainty/variability present in these composites to improve material behavior and damage initiation and progression predictive modeling capabilities. The output of this research will contribute to the fundamental understanding of the role architectural uncertainty plays in the damage of composite materials and how this affects their behavior and applications. Alcoa 2013 Consortium Project Alcoa 2013 Consortium Project Statement of Work Research will be conducted in the areas of design and optimization of biaxial cruciform specimens for fiber metal laminate (Glare) and metallic materials. Specifically the research will focus on finite element analysis and development of U-MAT for the optimization of multiaxial static and fatigue testing specimens. The optimized biaxial specimens will be tested and validated using the MTS biaxial/torsion test frame available at ASU. The output of this research will contribute to the development of a knowledge base on Glare materials.
