Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

We propose to acquire several components for an existing optical parametric oscillator (OPO) that have become defective due to long term use and wear. The key components are the nonlinear crystal assembly, control electronics box, and a mid-infrared power meter. A new OPO system could cost in the range of $100-150K. The acquisition of the parts would incur a total cost of $17,428.98 and would allow the recovery of the complete function of this expensive OPO. Such mid-infrared source would help on-going ARO projects and enhance the overall capabilities of PIs lab in mid-infrared characterization, potentially important for new projects in the areas of mid-infrared plasmonics and IR detector development.
