The overall effort of Thompson and one PhD student during this subcontract will be to supervise, in consultation and collaboration with UC Berkeley, will be to supervise the mathematical and pedagogical content of the review and revision of existing items and scoring rubrics (Year 1), to supervise the mathematical and pedagogical content of the expanded item pool and online versions of the MMTsm (Year 2), to organize the recruitment and testing of a national sample of teachers (Year 3), and to write articles about the findings gained from the assessments and qualitative investigations of teachers thinking (Year 4).
