Description

The SIMS Lab analytical capabilities include, but are not limited to: Point analysis: H contents of basaltic to rhyolitic glasses, micas, and amphiboles. H contents of (appropriately mounted) olivine, garnet and pyroxenes. H isotope ratio measurements of hydrous phases (several standards available). Li contents and isotope ratios of olivines, pyroxenes, clay minerals, and selected glass samples. B contents and isotope ratios of clay minerals, basaltic to rhyolitic glasses, tourmaline.C content of basaltic to rhyolitic glasses, C isotopes of carbonate. O isotope measurements of quartz, feldspar, magnetite, garnet, olivine (=2? errors, 2s). N contents of clay minerals and micas. F contents of nominally anhydrous minerals and glasses. Si isotope measurements of quartz. S isotope measurements of several sulfide minerals, apatite, and silicate glasses. Cl isotope ratio measurements of apatite (may expand to other phases). Depth profiling: High resolution (O2+, Cs primary beams) and low resolution (O- primary beam), rastered primary beam or aperture illumination (Kohler focusing).
